Job Description

Our bookkeeping department consists of several bookkeepers and one accounting manager.  The manager is the link between the bookkeeping department and the tax professionals.  Together they are providing full accounting services to our clientele.  The following describes the job of the bookkeeper:


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist in client engagements providing full bookkeeping support;
  2. Prepare financial statements and other financial reports in QuickBooks for clients and management;
  3. Prepare budgets, variance analysis and ad hoc reports for clients and management;
  4. Receive, approve, and, when necessary, investigate clients' accounts payable invoices;
  5. Handle client payroll for clients' American and foreign employees based in the U.S., including the set-up of client's employees as well as their termination in the payroll platform, calculating gross-up payroll for foreign employees paid abroad, handling 401 K Plan contributions, healthcare insurance, and other benefits. Register clients with states for paying payroll taxes and doing business. Handle new employees' payroll related forms such as I-9, W-4, and state income tax withholdings. 
  6. Communicate (both in verbal and written form) with clients, client suppliers, vendors, and banking contacts;
  7. Generate 1099's, W-2's, and W-8BEN-E's for clients;
  8. Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns for clients;
  9. Record intercompany receivable, payable, and loans often involving foreign currency conversion and reconciliation of the intercompany balances with the client's parent company;
  10. Process clients' expense report reimbursements. Convert expenses made in foreign currency into U.S. dollars.
  11. Manage clients' bank account activities including making deposits of accounts receivable into clients' bank accounts, initiate payments via check, ACH or wire.
  12. Report directly to the manager of the bookkeeping department;



  1. Minimum of two years responsible accounting or bookkeeping experience including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger and financial reports;
  2. Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);
  3. Knowledge of regulatory requirements of processing payroll accounting transactions and payroll returns;
  4. Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships;
  5. Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and attention to detail;
  6. Knowledge of accounting software, QuickBooks experience preferred.
  7. Must be able to keep client matters strictly confidential;
  8. Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism;
  9. Command of the German language;
  10. U.S. work visa or work authorization required.
